Hanoi will be the venue for a series of cultural events and art performances in honor of President Ho Chi Minh on his birthday in May.

The activities are aimed at celebrating President Ho Chi Minh's 133rd birthday (May 19, 1890) and commemorating 112 years since he left the country to seek ways to liberate the nation (June 5, 1911), according to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.

Renowned Vietnamese artist Phuong Nga (center) performs her MVs praising President Ho Chi Minh on his 133rd birthday (May 19, 2023).

An art program entitled "Forever Remember the Merits of President Ho Chi Minh" will be held on May 19 at 8 pm at the "Determined to Brave Death for the Survival of the Fatherland" Monument and Ba Kieu Temple in the pedestrian area around Hoan Kiem Lake.

Locals and visitors to Hanoi City can enjoy songs and dances praising Ho Chi Minh's great contributions to the country's revolutionary cause, expressing the Vietnamese people's infinite respect and gratitude to the "Father of the Nation."

Meanwhile, on the same day, May 18, at 8 pm, the Vietnam Cai Luong Theater will hold an art performance on the open-air stage in Ha Dong District, while the Thang Long Music and Dance Theater will hold a special performance in Nam Tu Liem District.

On May 19, at 8 pm, the Hanoi Circus and Variety Arts Theater will perform for free at the central stadium in Ung Hoa District, while the Thang Long Puppet Theater will perform at the outdoor stage of the stadium in Phuc Tho District.

Until May 31, the Vietnam Ethnology Cultural and Tourist Villages in the Dong Mo tourist area, Son Tay City, will host many cultural activities under the theme "Uncle Ho Remembrance in May". The event attracted the participation of nearly 100 people from 15 ethnic groups across the country, such as Nung, Tay, H'Mong, Bahnar, and other ethnic minorities.

The highlight of the activities is the folk dance program entitled "People with the surname 'Ho' sing about President Ho Chi Minh," performed by the Ta Oi ethnic people from A Luoi District, Thua Thien Hue Province.

During the program, the organizing committee also introduces visitors to artifacts and untold stories about Uncle Ho through the narration of ethnic people.

All these activities show the great love of the ethnic people for President Ho Chi Minh and contribute to consolidating their trust in the Party and Uncle Ho.

On this occasion, the Relic Site of President Ho Chi Minh in Hanoi also issued a set of stamps called "Uncle Ho's Stilt House in the Presidential Palace," which contributed to the communication of President Ho Chi Minh's life and career among Vietnamese people and international friends.

The set of stamps by artist Le Khanh Vuong is 43x32mm, and the stamp block is 100x70mm in size, with prices of VND4000 (US$0.16) and VND15000 (US$0.63), respectively.
