Concert “Solo Journey” by Pho An My and Dang Tue Nguyen
Premiere of a new creative cycle by Vietnamese pianist Pho An My & musician Dang Tue Nguyen.
After 12 years of contemplating the traditional music with a composing and performing method that Pho An My and Dang Tue Nguyen called “Doi thoai” (“Dialogue”), in 2017, Pho An My and Dang Tue Nguyen continue to explore and transform to a new creative cycle. If “Doi thoai” is the first creative cycle (12 years) with interesting dialogues such as “Tuong (Fire), “Hau van” (Shadow), “Cheo” (Wind)…, this second creative cycle by Pho An My and Dang Tue Nguyen will see the marvelous moment of composition, the art of solo performance and a concert by instrumentals which root and blossoms from traditional music.
This new composing method could be called folk “Doc thoai” (Monologue) performed in a contemporary orchestral music. The first concert of the “Monologue” cycle will premiere with the name of “DOC HANH” (Solo Journey). DOC HANH (Solo Journey)

They use the same ancient language (Nôm Tày), use the same stringed instrument (Tính Tẩu) in their common Heaven worship (Then). But each ethnicity, each region has its distinctive traits: while the Tay has the singing technique hát lượn, the Nung has hát Shi, the Tay has the dancing technique múa Châu, the Nung has múa Xiên Tâng…
