Chinese ships become more aggressive
09:01, 2014/06/08
Chinese ships continued to take more aggressive actions to guard its oil rig illegally placed in Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone, representative of the Viet Nam Fisheries Surveillance Department under the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development reported Saturday.
According to the Department, at 2pm on June 7, Chinese tugboat 281 deliberately hit the left side of the vessel KN-635 of the Viet Nam Fisheries Surveillance Force right in Viet Nam’s waters.

Besides, Chinese fishing boats formed groups to aggressively prevent Vietnamese fisheries surveillance vessels from approaching the oil rig, the Department said.
These groups of Chinese boats were always ready to ram, blast sirens and fire water cannons at the Vietnamese vessels, the Department added.
For Vietnamese fishing boats operating in their traditional fishing grounds within Viet Nam’s waters, China’s fishing boats backed by four coast guard ships kept hampering Vietnamese fishing boats.
The Department said that China has still maintained four military ships, namely two minesweepers and missile-armed frigates, about 19-25 nautical miles from the illicit oil rig.
On Saturday, China deployed a total of some 120 ships, including 37-40 coast guard ones, 30 cargo ships and tugboats, 40-45 fishing vessels./.
