VNN/Hanoitimes 11:04, 2014/11/12
Cannon Bastion, which lies atop a hill – 177m above sea level, is not only fascinating for its historical relics, but is an impressive tourism site in Cat Ba island in Haiphong province.

Coming to Cat Ba, tourists have a chance to swim in the fresh and clean sea water, and to visit Cat Ba National Park, Lan Ha Bay and Monkey Island. They can also conquer the mountain walls on Cat Ba sea or study the art of making Cat Hai fish sauce.

In recent years, an attractive destination in Cat Ba journey is Height 177 or Cannon Bastion, which witnessed a fierce battle between Vietnamese soldiers and French warships.

The impressive army project boasts historical relics, including two cannons, an observatory system, and trenches built in the 1940s of the 20th century.

It officially opened to the public on June 13, 2010.
