Vns/Hanoitimes 16:04, 2014/10/15
Hollywood action star Gary Daniels (Expendables 2010) of the UK has been cast in the Vietnamese film Quyen, which is expected to be released next year.

Produced by BHD Co Ltd, Quyen is based on writer Nguyen Van Tho's story of the same name that won second prize in the 2006-09 fiction contest held by Vietnam Writers' Association.

The film takes place during the turbulent period prior to the fall of the Berlin Wall. It features Quyen and the man who loves her.

According to a producer's press release, Daniels' role will be very different from his previous roles, and his character will speak in Vietnamese.

The film marks the return of director Nguyen Phan Quang Binh after Canh Dong Bat Tan (Floating Lives), which debuted five years ago.

Beside Daniels, the other main actors are Tran Bao Son (Dap Canh Giua Khong Trung or Flapping in the Middle of Nowhere, which won a prize at the recent Venice Film Festival), Top 5 Miss Vietnam 2012 Vu Ngoc Anh, and advertising and TV actor David Tran.
