Black-and-white movie month: “The Artist” (2011)
In the second week of the Black-and-white movie month, the Center for Assistance and Development of Movie Talents’s Cinema Space is glad to present the film The Artist, directed by Michel Hazanavicius.
The Artist is a film in the style of a black-and-white silent film. Written, directed, and co-edited by Michel Hazanavicius, and produced by Thomas Langmann, the film stars Jean Dujardin and Bérénice Bejo.
The story takes place in Hollywood, between 1927 and 1932, and focuses on the relationship of an older silent film star and a rising young actress as silent cinema falls out of fashion and is replaced by the “talkies”.
The Artist received highly positive reviews from critics and won many accolades. It was nominated for ten Academy Awards and won five, including Best Picture for Langmann, Best Director for Hazanavicius, and Best Actor for Dujardin, making him the first French actor ever to win in this category. It was also the first French-produced film to win Best Picture, and the first mainly silent film to win since 1927’s “Wings” won at the 1st Academy Awards in 1929.

Filmstoryteller 27: “The Wild Strawberries”
You are invited to the film screening FILMstoryteller 27: Month of Ingmar Bergman’s films with the film “The Wild Strawberries” at Heritage Space.
Wild Strawberries is a 1957 Swedish drama film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman. The original Swedish title is Smultronstället, which literally means "The wild strawberry patch" but idiomatically signifies an underrated gem of a place, often with personal or sentimental value. The cast includes Victor Sjöström in his final screen performance as an old man recalling his past, as well as Bergman regulars Bibi Andersson, Ingrid Thulin and Gunnar Björnstrand. Max von Sydow also appears in a small role. Bergman wrote the screenplay while hospitalized.
Exploring philosophical themes such as introspection and human existence, Wild Strawberries is often considered to be one of Bergman's greatest and most moving films.

Venue: Heritage Space, 1st floor, Dolphin Plaza, 28 Tran Binh | 06 Nguyen Hoang, My Dinh 2, Nam Tu Liem, Ha Noi
