Hundreds artists are set to perform the Vietnamese national anthem, along with and other songs, in a patriotic attempt to call attention to the East Sea crisis.

According to singer Minh Quan, besides many songs about East Sea and its islands that have a strong influence and call on the patriotism of Vietnamese people, the national anthem is also a good choice.

Singer Minh Quan

Answering Minh Quan's request to make a music video, over 200 artists including singers, actors, athletes and beauty queens from across Vietnam were eager to participate. The artists met on May 14 and 15 to record a new arrangement of the national anthem.

Artists to perform national anthem

The film crew plans to make a video of the new rendition at Ly Thai To Flower Garden in Hanoi. They also hope to receive video footage of landscapes from around Vietnam in order to rouse positive national sentiment. The national anthem video clip is scheduled to be released on May 19, coinciding with Uncle Ho's birthday.

Journalist Ngo Ba Luc commented, "This project is meant to encourage solidarity and enforce the fighting spirit during these tense times. The record not only shows artists' enthusiasm, but reveals the strong feelings instilled in Vietnamese everywhere."

Dozens of artists in Hanoi will also take part in a concert scheduled for May 19 to raise donations for the fishermen and coastal guards in the East Sea.

Song-writer Phuong Uyen

Many other artists, such as Hong Nhung, Phuong Thanh and Uyen Linh have participated in another video clip focusing on the islands. The crew is in the process of finishing preparation for an official recording next week. The song to be used in this video is called "Nhung Trai Tim Vietnam" (Vietnamese Hearts). Song-writer Phuong Uyen shared that she completed the song in one night. The song expresses the Vietnamese people's love for their country.
