Artist Talk by Baptist Coelho
Chi Le 13:45, 2017/11/25
Discussion with Indian artist Baptist Coelho on the narratives of war will be held on 26 Nov at Nha San Collective.
Baptist Coelho lives and works in Mumbai, India. He received his Masters of Arts from the Birmingham Institute of Art & Design (BIAD), UK. He was awarded numerous awards, including the ‘Sovereign Asian Art Prize’ (2016) by The Sovereign Art Foundation, Hong Kong; ‘Façade Video Award’ (2011) by Art Today Association, Plovdiv-Bulgaria.
“The narratives of war are not linear, but instead form intricate trajectories. Over the last decade I have tried to address these crucial and complex stories by approaching them from various positions. This requires an exhaustive process of investigation, questioning, collaboration and interpretation that together generates critical outcomes that question and confront established histories and power structures. My Interdisciplinary projects deploy diverse media including installation, sculpture, video, sound, photography, performance and found objects.” – an excerpt from the artist’s statement.
Artist Talk by Baptist Coelho will be held on 26 Nov 2017, 4 pm at Nha San Collective, 15th floor, Hanoi Creative City Building, 01 Luong Yen, Hanoi.
