Art In The Forest 2017
12:16, 2017/10/28
On the morning of 28 Oct, Flamingo Art Space – Art In The Forest 2017 – officially opens at Flamingo Dai Lai Resort.
This year’s program is bringing to the audience painting and sculpture works by 17 notable artists from Vietnam and all over the world. Within the framework of AIF Art Week (28 Oct – 05 Nov), a number of exciting Western & Eastern cultural activities will also take place, promising to attract thousands of visitors to the Flamingo Dai Lai Resort.
Flamingo Dai Lai Art Space – Art In The Forest – instantly became a big hit when it was first organized in Vietnam in 2015. After two successful editions in 2015 and 2016, Art In The Forest became a national-level Art – Culture event when voted as one of the Top 5 National Art Events in 2016 by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism.
With 25 unique sculptures and an impressive painting exhibition displayed in a vast space (more than 123 acres) through two editions, Art In The Forest has helped Flamingo Dai Lai Resort establish a record for “The resort that has the largest Art Space by the water in Vietnam”, which was recognized by the Vietnam Record Association and Vietnam Book of Records in June 2017.
Those remarkable milestones are proof to the passion and relentless effort of Flamingo Group to achieve the goal of devoting life and art values to the community, and becoming a place to preserve artworks by Vietnamese and Asian contemporary artists.
With the credibility and powerful impact gained from the two previous editions, Art In The Forest 2017 continues to gather many contemporary sculptors in an art residency, including Vietnamese sculptors Bui Hai Son, Nguyen Nguyen Ha, Vu Binh Minh, and international sculptors Lee Jae Hyo (South Korea), Carlos Albert Andrés (Spain), Yeo Chee Kiong (Singapore) and Mukai Katsumi (Japan).
Apart from Mukai who has joined AIF before, this is the first time that the three other artists accept the invitation for an art residency in Vietnam.
Art In The Forest 2017 promises to introduce outstanding wood and metal sculptures that gracefully express the artists’ perspectives on life and on the relationship between humans and nature.
Alongside the sculpture works, this is the first time a painting art residency has been organized within Art In The Forest with the participation of 10 local artists. The audience will have the chance to view artworks by painters Mac Hoang Thuong, Hoang Duong Cam, Nguyen Son, Ha Manh Thang, Nguyen Xuan Long, and the rarely seen artworks by Tuan Mami – one of the top installation-performance artists in Vietnam. Other honored guests include: Nguyen Quan, Nguyen Xuan Tiep, who will surely bring the unexpected to Art In The Forest 2017. Let’s wait for their brainchildren in the Studio AIF in the middle of Dai Lai pine forest, which is an artwork itself, created by artist Pham Tuan Tu and the hyper-realistic painter Trinh Minh Tien.
Art tours will be organized during the AIF Art Week 2017, from 28 Oct to 05 Nov at Flamingo Dai Lai Resort. A series of cultural activities “All for Art” will also take place, including kite flying (Danang Kite Club), kids’ painting classes, craft booths, etc.
