An exhibition on Thang Long Imperial displayed in HCM City
Hanoi Culture and Information Department in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh`s Department of Culture and Information and Museum opened the exhibition on Thang Long Imperial in HCM city on September 28.
Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi; Party Secretary of HCM City Le Thanh Hai; Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen The Thao; Chairman of HCM City People's Committee Le Hoang Quan, and leaders of the two cities attended the opening ceremony.
Addressing the event, Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Pham Quang Nghi said that the exhibition is a significant activity, which does not only portrays the beauty and development periods of Thang Long - Hanoi in general, the imperial citadel in particular, but also contributes to strengthening cultural exchanges between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
It plays as a powerful motivation to spread the spirit of solidarity to people throughout the country, making the connection of the national cultural heritages.
The exhibition on Thang Long Imperial was held at HCM City Museum (114 Nam Ky Khoi Nghia, Ben Nghe ward, District 1, HCM Ctiy).
At the event, nearly 300 photos, maps and documentary films featuring the diverse culture and historical values of the Thang Long Imperial Citadel are being introduced to visitors.
The exhibit is organised into three topics. The first topic provides general information on the old capital city of Thang Long and the world cultural heritage site Thang Long Imperial Citadel over historical periods.
The second portion features the architecture, scale, construction material and building techniques through over 150 photos, drawings, and articles.
The third segment introduces with the techniques used to make ceramics serving the daily lives of the Kings and their families.
Besides, documentary films capturing the Thang Long Imperial Citadel will be screened as part of the exhibition.
The Thang Long Imperial Citadel in Hanoi, one of the country’s momentous relics, was initially built during the Ly Dynasty (1009 – 1225) and subsequently expanded by the Tran, Le and Nguyen Dynasties. The core area of the imperial citadel was recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2010.
