A+ TV provides viewers a wide range of programmes including news, finance, sport, entertainment and drama, along with children's programmes, English language learning, documentaries and arts.
A+ TV has many popular shows such as Behind the News which explains current affairs to students, and Study English that helps them prepare for IELTS exams.
The service also covers big events in Australia and will arrive in Vietnam just in time for the 2015 AFL Grand Final that will be broadcast live from the Melbourne Cricket Ground today. Lynley Marshall, CEO of ABC International, said launching A+ TV in Vietnam was one of the top priorities for ABC.
"Our aim is to further enhance Vietnamese people's knowledge and understanding of Australians and Australian life and strengthen links between the two nations," she said.
"This follows a strong bilateral educational relationship, which has been shown through Australia's contributions to education services in Vietnam for the past two decades," she added.
Vu Huy Minh Quoc, director of OpenSpace which represents ABC in Vietnam, said that A+ TV provided a connection point for all Australians living or visiting Vietnam, and for Vietnamese who wish to learn about Australia.
