Hanoi to consider expanding paid quarantine to facilitate foreign entry

The facilities providing paid quarantine service should be under tight supervision so as for the coronavirus not to spread in the community.

Hanoi should expand paid quarantine to create the most favorable conditions for foreigners to enter the city, Kinh Te & Do Thi quoted Deputy Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dao Duc Toan as sayings at a meeting of the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention on August 31.

The deputy secretary also suggested that the facilities providing paid quarantine service should be under tight supervision so that the Covid-19 disease cannot spread in the community.

Vietnam currently requires all people, both Vietnamese and foreigners, coming from abroad to undergo 14-day quarantine.

Mr. Toan stated that Covid-19 could potentially break out at any time, thus, Hanoi must focus on pandemic prevention and promote economic development, ensuring social and business activities in a new normal.

He stressed each district of the city should adopt flexible measures suitable to its condition to keep business as usual while preventing the disease.

Besides, districts need to strengthen environmental sanitation, especially in areas with numerous construction sites, not only to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic but other diseases as well.

For his part, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Ngo Van Quy said that eight among 78 hospitals in the city are classified as of high risk for failing to meet anti-Covid-19 measures.

Mr. Quy emphasized that it is a large number, thus, the steering committee asked all the hospitals in Hanoi to strictly obey the pandemic protocols.

Regarding the test results of returnees from the Covid-19 epicenter of Danang, Mr. Quy said that the city has completed the work and "can be assured that the risk has been wiped out".

The vice chairman also reminded and encouraged in restaurants in Hanoi to strictly practice social distancing.

In terms of the new guidance of the Prime Minister on paid quarantine for people on entry, Mr. Quy asked relevant agencies to develop a detailed plan and submit it to the municipal People’s Committee for approval.
