Hanoi speeds up building of waste treatment plants
Hanoi`s authority requires investors to apply the most advanced waste-to-energy technology in the world for waste treatment.
The Hanoi People's Committee has requested departments and related units to speed up the construction of waste treatment plants in the city amid quicker urbanization rate.
The city’s authority requires investors to apply the most advanced waste-to-energy technology in the world for waste treatment (least dioxin emission, 5% or less burial rate and the latest technology according to the 12 criteria that Hanoi issed).
Notably, the Hanoi Department of Construction will review projects which are behind schedule, find out the causes and responsibilities of the investors.
Besides, the department has to report to the city’s government the measures to handle each project before April 2019.
The municipal Department of Natural Resources and Environment is asked to cooperate with investors (approved by the Hanoi People's Committee to invest in building plants in Nam Son and Xuan Son waste treatment complexes) and report to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to soon consider and approve environmental impact assessment reports to serve as a basis for continuing to implement the project, completing land use records and submitting it to the Hanoi People's Committee for land lease decision in March 2019.
The Hanoi Department of Construction and the People's Committees of districts and towns will monitor and evaluate results of collecting urban and rural solid waste in the city.
The Department of Construction must report the Hanoi People's Committee about the operation of landfill and garbage water treatment at Nam Son and Xuan Son waste treatment complexes by June 15, 2019.
