The sacrifices of Vietnamese medical workers and frontline forces in the fight against the pandemic have left a good image in the mind of the people and have been highly valued by international friends.

The Hanoi Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee on February 22 held a meeting with medical workers and frontline forces who fought the Covid-19 pandemic on the 67th Vietnamese Doctors’ Day (February 27, 1955-2022).

Addressing the conference, Director of the Hanoi Department of Health Tran Thi Nhi Ha reviewed extremely difficult moments in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic in the past two years.

“In these unprecedented difficulties and challenges, we have been able to achieve the impossible. The medical force has injected more than 600,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine per day, and to accomplish that, many of them had to work until 3:00 am,” Ha said.

The director pledged stronger efforts to fulfill all the assigned duties.

For his part, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung lauded efforts and achievements by the local healthcare sector over the past years, especially in the Covid-19 prevention, control, and vaccination.

Dung praised the contributions of medical workers over recent years, affirming that they have performed well in their tasks of preventing the Covid-19 pandemic and taking care of people’s health.

“The efforts of the medical sector have contributed to bringing peace and coziness to every home across the country, especially during Lunar New Year 2022, helping people enjoy a cheerful Tet atmosphere with activities returning to normal,” said the Party official.

He emphasized that the sacrifices of the medical workers and frontline forces in the fight against the pandemic have left a good image in the mind of the people and have been highly valued by international friends.

The municipal Party leader also asked the municipal and district-level Party committees, administrations, and sectors to continue investing in all-level health care, which should be considered as an investment in the people’s health for the sake of physically and mentally healthy people to contribute to national development and defense.

In particular, Dung requested the health sector to push ahead with the spring vaccination campaign, keep other disease outbreaks under control, minimize deaths in epidemics, and further improve the quality of medical examination and treatment.

The municipal Party chief affirmed that the city has been confident to realize the “dual goal” of fighting the pandemic and boosting socio-economic development in accordance with the motto of “flexible safety adaptation, effectively preventing the Covid-19 pandemic”.
