Hanoi gives priority to innovative start-ups
Hanoi gathers the best conditions to become the country’s start-up hub.
Hanoi gives priority to promoting entrepreneurship and innovative start-ups, which are among the city’s strategic development goals in the 2018 – 2020 period, according to Nguyen Doan Toan, vice chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee.
Toan lauded the organization of Hanoi’s Start-up Day 2018, which is expected to support the formation of an innovative start-up ecosystem and facilitate a comprehensive development of start-up community.
The move would utilize Hanoi’s existing advantage and transform the city into Vietnam’s start-up hub, Toan said at the launch of the event on November 6.
According to Toan, Hanoi’s start-up community has been growing strongly with over 22,000 enterprises established in the first ten months this year.
As of present, Hanoi has a total of 252,000 operational enterprises. The capital is on track to fulfill the target of having 400,000 enterprises by 2020, Toan added.
Toan stated that the combination of knowledge, innovation and highly qualified human resources from research institutions and universities is the foundation to promote the development of start-ups.
Toan expressed his belief that more start-up ideas would become great business successes in the future, thanks to the huge potential of the start-up community and the support from local government and society.
Tran Ngoc Nam, deputy director of the municipal Department of Planning and Investment, said Hanoi is on the final stage of developing a support project for innovative start-ups in the city.
The project is scheduled to be approved by the Hanoi People’s Council in early 2019, providing numerous solutions to facilitate the development of innovative start-ups in Hanoi, Nam added.
