A Danish picture book was introduced to Hanoi's children on November 11 as part of serial activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Denmark-Vietnam diplomatic relationship.

Children of Hanoi on November 11 enjoyed the introduction of the book titled “A Journey to the Fairy Tale World” written by the Danish author Tove K Lange.

The book presents a series of drawings, fairy tales, and short stories with questions to guide readers into the world of fantasy.

The event, co-organized by the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam and Kim Dong Publishing House, is a part of the serial activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of establishing the Vietnam-Denmark diplomatic relationship.

“I hope that these beautiful paintings and entertaining stories will attract not only Vietnamese children but also adults and guide them through fairy tales that most of us know by heart since our childhood,” the Danish Ambassador to Vietnam Nicolai Prytz said in his remarks at the event.

Nicolai also appreciated the long-term partnership between the embassy and Kim Dong Publishing House, adding that the co-working efforts will enhance the quality of Vietnamese children's writing.

Director of Kim Dong Publishing House Bui Tuan Nghia said many Vietnamese writers and painters had gained much experience from their partnership with Danish colleagues, especially Tove K Lange.

Painter and author Tove K Lange has ten years of working at a Vietnam-Denmark cooperation program to improve the capabilities of Vietnamese children in the literature between 2006 and 2015.

She was often a member of judges in the contests that aimed to improve the skills of Vietnamese writers and painters.

Two training seminars will follow the book launch to discuss current trends in Danish picture books to promote the exchange of knowledge and experience between Danish and Vietnamese illustrators and writers.
