Air traffic during Tet holiday 2024 up 11%

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) reported that from February 8 to 14 (from the 29th day of the last lunar year to the 5th day of the first lunar month of 2024), air traffic reached over 1.5 million people, an increase of 11% compared to Tet (the Lunar New Year) 2023. International passenger traffic increased by 54% to approximately 748,600, while domestic passenger traffic fell by 13.2% to over 762,400 passengers.  

EuroCham-Binh Phuoc high-tech agriculture business connection forum to be held in March

The EuroCham-Binh Phuoc High-Tech Agriculture Business Connection Forum in 2024 will be held on March 12 in Dong Xoai City, the southern province of Binh Phuoc. The event will include the signing of many memoranda of understanding on high-tech agriculture. This is an opportunity for the province to showcase its strengths and preferential policies, and for EuroCham businesses to connect production and consumption value chains while promoting local key agricultural products to the European market.

National Council for Science, Technology and Innovation established

The National Council for Science, Technology, and Innovation was established following a decision signed on February 14 by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh. Chaired by the prime minister, the council helps him to promote science, technology, and innovation for socio-economic development, defense, security, and international integration. It also performs other functions assigned by the prime minister.

Key industrial crops expected to reach billion-dollar exports

Vietnam targets US$14-16 billion in export revenue by 2030 for six key industrial crops, including coffee, rubber, tea, cashew, black pepper, and coconut, according to the Development Plan for Key Industrial Crops to 2030 approved by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. The total area of these six major industrial crops nationwide is expected to reach 2.1-2.3 million hectares by 2030.

Two Vietnamese referees to officiate at final of AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) on February 16 appointed Le Thi Ly and Ha Thi Phuong as referees for the final matches, which will be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from February 28 to March 17. Le Thi Ly is one of three FIFA referees in Vietnam and is also a high-ranking AFC umpire who is regularly called upon to officiate at major tournaments and official matches.
