Vietnamese in South Korea to enjoy cultural festival “We are together”
The event aims to promote Vietnamese culture to South Korea, while cementing the bond and cultural exchanges between the Vietnamese and South Koreans.
The third cultural festival themed “We are together” for the Vietnamese community in South Korea will take place from April 27 to 28 in Suwon Sky Theater, Suwon City, South Korea, said the organizing board at a press conference in Hanoi, Van Hoa (Culture) newspaper reported.
The festival, organized by Dongbu Insurance in coordination with Post and Telecommunication Joint Stock Insurance Corporation (PTI), is among events to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Vietnam – South Korea diplomatic relations.
In recent years, besides bolstered economic relations, Vietnam and South Korea have actively engaged in cultural and social exchanges. Currently, there are nearly 200,000 Vietnamese people living in South Korea, including married immigrant women, workers and foreign students.
The event aims to promote Vietnamese culture in South Korea, as well as cement the bond and cultural exchanges between the Vietnamese and South Koreans. It is also designed to provide a venue for the overseas Vietnamese community in South Korea to meet and strengthen their sense of homeland.
This year’s event will feature a fashion show featuring Ao Dai (traditional Vietnamese long dress) and Hanbok (traditional South Korean dress) by designers from the two countries, in addition to Vietnamese and South Korea folk games and exciting contests.
Renowned Vietnamese singers such as Thuy Chi, Phuong Ly, Duc Phuc, Trong Hieu, Truc Nhan, Uyen Linh, Trong Tai will perform together in the music event with Gummy – famous singer in South Korea during the festival.
Visitors at the event will have an opportunity to taste the signature dishes of Vietnam and South Korea, and enjoy musical performances by popular artists and bands from the two countries. The festival is expected to welcome 1,000 visitors.
In 2018, the number of South Korean tourists to Vietnam was estimated at 3.3 million, a 30% increase from the same period of the previous year, the second largest tourist market in the country behind China, according to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).
