Vietnam brings 2,150 citizens home in week ended July 26

Vietnam will continue its repatriation efforts in dependence of the pandemic evolution and quarantine capacity at home.

Vietnam brought home roughly 2,150 citizens in the week ended July 26 as the country strives to protect its people's well-being from the fast-spreading Covid-19 pandemic, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA).

Vietnamese people in dozens of countries across Asia, America, Africa, and Europe have returned to the home country in nearly 10 repatriation flights operated by national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines and VietJet Air.

On July 26, more than 310 people landed at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi in a flight by Vietnam Airlines from South Korea. A day earlier, the national flag carrier brought home more than 190 passengers from Japan.

 

On July 25, Vietnam Airlines flew more than 340 people from Canada, making it the fourth repatriation flight from the North American country.

Meanwhile, VietJet Air brought 240 people home from Singapore, one of hot spots of coronavirus outbreaks in Southeast Asia.

On July 24, Vietnam Airlines repatriated more than 270 people from some African countries namely Ivory Coast, Algeria, Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt, Senegal, Lebanon, Tanzania, and Guinea. The passengers gathered in Paris, France before flying home.

Around 270 people in another group also returned to the home country from Cuba and Germany on the same day.

On July 22, Vietnam Airlines brought home 280 people from Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Italy, Belgium, Austria, Denmark, the Netherlands, Czech, Slovakia, and Hungary who gathered in Bucharest and Warsaw for the repatriation flight.

One day earlier, more than 300 people touched homeland soil in a Vietnam Airlines flight from Malaysia.

The passengers have been quarantined upon arrival in a number of concentrated centers across Vietnam. They will undergo 14 days of quarantine free of charge.
