Vietnam among world’s best places to visit in May
May is a fabulous time all over the world, especially in the Northern Hemisphere when spring has officially sprung and closer to the equator it’s wonderfully hot.
Vietnam has been named among the best places to visit in May for a week or so in the sun, according to a list released by Woman and Home, a monthly lifestyle magazine for women published by IPC Media.
Vietnam is the jewel in South East Asia’s crown – famous for its beautiful scenery, majestic rivers, rich history, French colonial architecture, extraordinary food and stunning beaches, Woman and Home said.
The magazine advises travelers that May is the perfect month to visit Vietnam: temperatures are mild, and yet to reach the sweltering highs of summer.
Head to Ha Long Bay for an otherworldly cruise through karst rock formations and a jaunt in some enormous caves, then make your way down to Hoi An, where hundreds of tailors will craft bespoke dresses and suits for a fraction of the price that you’d pay at home.
West coast in the US tops the list, followed by Amalfi Coast in Italy, Ibiza in Spain, Lisbon in Portugal, Corfu in Greece, Egypt, Vietnam, Tenerife in Canary Islands.
The number of foreign holidaymakers to Vietnam in the first quarter of 2019 is estimated at 4.5 million, a rise of 7% year-on-year, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
In the first three months of 2019, increases were recorded in the number of holidaymakers from almost all markets, particularly Thailand (49.4%), China (37.8%), Taiwan – China (26%), South Korea (24.1%), Japan (8.3%), and Malaysia (11.1%).
Vietnam aims to receive about 18 million foreign visitors and 85 million domestic ones in 2019, and earn more than VND700 trillion (US$30.2 billion) from tourism, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
