Thua Thien -Hue to build first smart media city in Vietnam
The smart media city is expected to gather projects in the fields of information technology, virtual reality technology and film industry.
Vietnam’s first smart media city will be built on an area of 39.6 hectares in Hue city with a total cost of over US$22 million, the government portal quoted Chairman of the Thua Thien-Hue People's Committee Phan Ngoc Tho as saying.
The project is considered as phase of the project "Developing smart urban services in the province of Thua Thien-Hue to 2020, with the orientation to 2025".
The smart media city is expected to gather projects in the fields of information technology, virtual reality technology and film industry. Besides, it will connect with historical resources which are preserved in Hue, high-qualified human resources and the local tourism industry.
This project will attract new industries associated with tourism and businesses operating in strategic fields; boost the local economy, creating employment opportunities for local laborers; develop sustainable city through smart digital technology applications.
Previously, Thua Thien-Hue province established a center for smart city administration to implement the project "Developing smart urban services in the province of Thua Thien-Hue to 2020, with the orientation to 2025".
Since its pilot implementation in 2018, the center has succeeded in harnessing its main three functions, including supervision, management and data analysis, aiming to build a service-minded government and handle citizens’ feedback on time.
Recently, the center has implemented a system to receive people’s online feedback via smart phones or Facebook and other social networks.
