By Tuan Minh 13:21, 2014/11/28
Deputies at the eighth session of the 13th National Assembly (NA) unanimously passed the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on November 28.

Regarding the UN Convention against Torture and Other Cruel, Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment, the NA deputies agreed with the Government’s proposal saying Vietnam does not consider the Convention against Torture a direct legal basis for extradition and issues related to the penal procedure.

For the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, the law makers affirmed the adoption of the Convention continues to confirm Vietnam’s adherence and full implementation of international commitments on ensuring and protecting the rights and interests of people with disabilities.

NA deputies also debated the draft Animal Health Law and are about to close the eight session on the same day.
