Civil servants will enjoy a nine-day break on the occasion of the Vietnamese traditional Lunar New Year of the Tiger and a two-day break for the National Day Holiday.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam has just signed a document on the holiday breaks of Lunar New Year and National Day holidays for public employees.

Accordingly, the Lunar New Year holiday will last between January 31 and February 4. The five-weekday celebration plus two weekends before and after the holiday make up a nine-day break.

Meanwhile, the National Day holiday will fall on September 1 and 2, 2022.

In total, Vietnamese workers are entitled to nine days of Tet holiday and two days of National Day holiday, according to the document.

Workers who are not officials or public servants will have their schedules arranged by their employers and will get compensatory leave if they need to work during the national holidays.

Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam also asked the administrative agencies to arrange reasonable personnel on duty to ensure that civil works will still run smoothly during these holiday breaks.

In addition, the Covid-19 pandemic prevention and control measures in localities should also be drastically enforced during the holidays.

Earlier, Vietnam’s Ministry of Labor, War Invalids, and Social Affairs had submitted to the government a plan on holiday entitlement after consulting with 16 related agencies on a Tet holiday plan, which is two days longer than last year’s Tet.
