Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in Hanoi earns Guinness Vietnam Record

The festival is an event of great significance that contributes to strengthening of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan.
Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in Hanoi, which concluded earlier this month, has been recognized by the Guinness Vietnam Record for the values of humanity and community it offered, Vietnam News Agency reported.

Accordingly, Hanoi-based Advanced International JSC (AIC) on April 23 received a record certificate on recognition of the company’s role in the festival from the Vietnam Record Association and the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings).
The Japanese Cherry Blossom Festival in Hanoi aims to promote cultural exchanges, friendship and mutual understanding between the Vietnamese and Japanese people. After four years of recognized organization, the festival has become a venue for local people and tourists to admire thousands of cherry blossom trees and branches transported from Japan.
Speaking at the event, President of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc said that the annual festival in Hanoi is not only a cultural event full of humane activities, but also one of the significant trade and investment promotion activities. Through the festival, Vietnam and Japan signed many contracts, projects and programs.
“The festival is an event of great significance contributing to strengthening of the strategic partnership between Vietnam and Japan,” Loc added.
The Japan Cherry Blossom Festival, which took place at the King Ly Thai To park in the heart of Hanoi from March 29 to April 2, welcomed more than one million visitors, the largest turnout in the past four years, according to the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports.
During the festival, visitors had a chance to enjoy many traditional dishes of Japan. In addition, Hanoians also enjoyed a wide range of cultural and artistic performances of Vietnam and Japan, including Yosakoi - a unique style of flashmob dance, Shogi - Japanese chess, and Kendama - literally “sword and ball”, a traditional cup-and-ball toy, Vietnamese arts also form part of the festival, including ca tru and hat xam.
According to the organizers, besides 20,000 cherry blossom branches and 100 cherry trees brough from Japan, they had prepared 10,000 cherry blossom branches for replacement.
