The approval is expected to mark a turning point to renovate the capital city and promote socio-economic development.

Hanoi voters have called on the Government to give green light to the city's subdivision planning projects for the Hong (Red) River and Duong River as soon as possible and create a legal basis for urban development.

This was one of more than 40 proposals compiled by the Hanoi National Assembly (NA) delegation discussed at the second session of the 15th National Assembly, which opened today [October 20].

The approval will mark a turning point to renovate the capital city and promote socio-economic development, the voters said.

The voters also underlined the adjustment of Hanoi's construction master plan to 2030, with a vision to 2050, which is necessary for the development of resources in the city. An effective mechanism is needed to realize the plan.

They also proposed the Government consider reviewing and adjusting the planning of areas adjacent to Hanoi to create regional connectivity and promote advantages.

It is expected that ministries and branches will soon feedback the voters' recommendations relevant to problems of pollution on Day and Nhue rivers, delayed construction and budget overrun in the Cat Linh-Ha Dong elevated railway project, the removal of universities, hospitals, and offices of ministerial-level agencies out of the capital’s core districts as planned.

Voters suggested the Government pays attention to supporting workers affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, providing capital support and debt rescheduling for businesses.

The Government should cut investment in projects that are not really urgent while concentrating investment capital on the implementation of key projects.

Other issues raised by Hanoian voters to ministries and sectors included strengthening the management of cyber-network security, enhancing communication on the effective and appropriate use of social networks in accordance with social ethics and the law, as well as rolling out vaccination for children aged 12 to 18 against Covid-19, considering measures to ensure pandemic prevention so that students can return to school soon.
