The vivid painting of a janitor pushing a garbage truck by a Hanoi student won the first prize in the drawing contest entitled “The World Needs Female Superheroes”.

Nguyen Bao Dang, a 4th grader of Thang Long Primary School in Hanoi has won the first prize of the painting contest, which was launched by the Spanish Embassy in Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnamese Women´s Museum.

The drawing contest entitled ‘The World Needs Female Superheroes’ aimed to portray and laud the contributions of women in all aspects of everyday life and promote gender equality.

The painting won the first prize of the ‘The World Needs Female Superheroes’ contest organized by the Spanish Embassy in Vietnam in collaboration with the Vietnamese Women´s Museum

Spanish Ambassador to Vietnam Maria Del Pilar Méndez Jiménez said that the woman in the picture is called ‘the doctor of the street’. Like doctors, janitors keep our streets clean and ‘healthy’.

Two other prizes of the drawing competition went to Tran Nguyen Diep Chi, a 3rd grader, and Nguyen Dang Bao Dan and Tran Chi Linh, 5th graders. These paintings honor these pupils’ grandmothers, as shown through the images of them diligently caring for families (in Diep Chi’s painting), as well as other people (in Bao Dan’s work since her grandmother is a doctor at Bach Mai Hospital).

The contest attracted the participation of 400 contestants of different ages, contributed to honoring the role and contributions of women in society.
