Hanoi honors valedictorians: Precious assets of the capital and the country

The valedictorians are typical representatives of young intellectuals.

Valedictorians, those who achieved outstanding academic achievements in higher educational institutions, are valuable assets of the capital city and the country.

Chairman of the municipal People's Committee Chu Ngoc Anh made his statement at the ceremony held by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in Hanoi on November 18 evening to honor 90 valedictorians this year.

The Hanoi mayor outlined important policies of the city to attract talents, develop high-quality human resources, and meet the sustainable development of the capital city and the country.

“I know that among the valedictorians commended today, many of them have volunteered to participate in the Covid-19 prevention and control, especially during the time the city was placed under restrictions,” the mayor added.

He expressed his hope that each valedictorian would promote the youthful spirit of volunteerism, exerting efforts in raising the intellectual level of the people and the strength of the country as well as making important contributions to the cause of national construction and defense.

For his part, Secretary of the Union's municipal Committee Chu Hong Minh highlighted the national tradition of eagerness to learn. She said the municipal Party Committee and authorities have issued policies to attract and nurture talents for many years now to build a prosperous, civilized and modern capital city.

The youth official said the ceremony is aimed recognizing students’ constant efforts during their learning process. Minh expressed her belief that under any circumstances, they will hold their spirit high and bring into full play their creativity to bring more achievements to the capital city and the country.

It is the 19th consecutive year that Hanoi has honored valedictorians from universities. Including this year, a total of 1,969 valedictorians have been honored and received certificates of merit from the municipal People’s Committee.

Not only did they gain high academic results, but the honourees have also actively participated in youth movements and authored many pieces of research, initiatives, and solutions which received prizes at local and international competitions.

Many of them have achieved initial success in their career after graduation and made positive contributions to the construction and development of the capital city and the country.

They have been examples of promoting creativity and upholding the national tradition of learning effort.
