It is the remains of the former Hoa Lo Prison, ironically nicknamed the “Hanoi Hilton” by US prisoners of war during the Vietnam War. Most exhibits relate to the prison’s use up to the mid-1950s, focusing on the Vietnamese struggle for independence from France.

5. Vietnam Military History Museum



Address: 28A Dien Bien Phu street, Ba Dinh district. 

The Vietnam Military History Museum Hanoi, also known as the Army Museum, houses an extensive collection of weapons that were used throughout Vietnam’s war-filled history. Adjacent is the hexagonal Flag Tower, one of the symbols of Hanoi.

Address: Pham Hung street, Nam Tu Liem district.
