Chefs from 13 countries to join International Food Festival in Da Nang

The festival with theme “The Taste of Homeland” will attract many world renowned culinary personalities such as President of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) Thomas Andeas Gugler.
The fist-ever International Food Festival (DNIFF 2019) in Danang aims to showcase culinary arts performed by chefs from 13 countries from around the world, To quoc newspaper reported, citing the organizing board at a press conference on May 9.

The 2019 DNIFF with theme “The Taste of Homeland” will take place in Son Tra district from June 2 to 6, attract many world-renowned culinary personalities such as President of the World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) Thomas Andeas Gugler.
The highlight of the event will be an international culinary space with between 15 and 20 stands showcasing delicacies of such countries as Germany, Mexico, Australia, India, China, Sri Lanka, Lebanon, Sweden, the US, Turkey, Greece, Malaysia and Singapore.
According to Deputy Director of the Danang Department of Tourism Nguyen Xuan Binh, the event will introduce specialty dishes, as well as promote the city’s tourism to both domestic and foreign visitors.
Besides, some amazing souvenirs highlighting characteristic of the seaside city will be on sale at the upcoming festival, whilst nightly cooking and musical performances will also be held.
The organization of the international-scale festival is expected to cost VND2.06 billion (US$88,666). Of this, over VND661 million (US$28,423) will come from the Tourism Department’s budget, whilst the remaining VND1.4 billion (US$60,200) will be sourced from private resources.
The number of visitors to Danang in the first quarter of 2019 is estimated at 1.8 million, with arrivals by air increasing 56.5% on-year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
Accordingly, Danang has upgraded much of its infrastructure and face-lifted its renowned beaches in preparation to welcome visitors as the year’s peak tourist season approaches.
